Jaipur police launch 'Operation Khushi' after 7 girls go missing in a single day

A concerning incident has unfolded in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where seven girls, including at least one minor, went missing on Thursday from four different police station areas within the Jaipur Commissionerate. This alarming development has prompted immediate action from the local police, who have launched a search operation to locate the missing girls. Simultaneously, the Rajasthan Police have announced a state-wide campaign, "Operation Khushi-9," set to run from April 1st to April 30th, 2025. This month-long initiative aims to find all missing minor children, defined as those under the age of 18, across the entire state.

The Rajasthan Police acknowledge the persistent challenge of missing persons in the state, with men, women, and children reportedly disappearing on a near-daily basis. Finding these individuals remains a significant task for law enforcement. The immediate focus, however, is on the seven girls who recently went missing in Jaipur. Police teams are actively involved in searching for them, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

Recognizing the importance of dedicated effort in such cases, the Rajasthan Police have announced a system of rewards for officers who demonstrate diligence and hard work during "Operation Khushi-9." This is intended to incentivize proactive engagement in the campaign and maximize the chances of recovering missing children. Conversely, the police department has stated that disciplinary action will be taken against any personnel found to be indifferent or negligent in their duties related to this crucial operation.

Additional Director General of Police Civil Rights and AHT, Malini Agarwal, has stated that police station-wise teams are being established throughout Rajasthan specifically for this campaign. She emphasized that the Rajasthan Police have conducted numerous similar campaigns in the past to locate missing children. "Operation Khushi-9" will build upon these previous efforts by implementing comprehensive strategies to ensure the swift recovery of missing children and their safe return to their families.

In a move to enhance the effectiveness of the campaign, the district-level cyber cells will be integrated to provide technical assistance in tracing the missing children. Furthermore, a system of weekly progress reports from each district will be compiled and monitored by the Missing Person Cell of the Civil Rights and AHT branch at the Police Headquarters. This centralized oversight will allow for better coordination and assessment of the campaign's progress across the state.

The decision to launch "Operation Khushi-9" from April 1st to April 30th, 2025, across all districts of Rajasthan at the police headquarters level, reflects the commitment to addressing the backlog of registered missing children cases in the state. By focusing resources and implementing a system of both rewards and accountability, the Rajasthan Police aim to achieve significant success in reuniting missing children with their families during this month-long special campaign.
